bowdabra

It's hard to resist having a big bow on your butt.

I'm totally making a sash with a large bow. So that it's at least an option. It's good to have options right?

puff puffs enough

These were all possibilities, they were fun, and quite pretty, but not quite right. But damn, trying on fancy white dresses is a HELL of a lot of fun. If anyone wants to go dress shopping (or pretend dress shopping) let me know and we'll totally make a day of it.

More dressessss

I totally looked like a creampuff in this one, which was fun, but not really what I was looking for in a dress.

prepare for picture overload

I really liked the little jacket. I think that I will make one to match my dress, probably with lace or fabric flowers.

I really liked the lace veil, the lace edge was fun.

The people at the 2nd dress shop were much nicer. The first dress shop we went to had some lovely dresses, but the people were horrible. Pussy, rude, and just nasty.

Dresses that I tried on, and did not get. The whole dress shopping thing turned out to be a ton of fun, and I really love the dress that I got. I don't know if I'll post pictures of that one or not though.

Dress

So... I got a dress today. It's pretty, simple, and perfect. It was also cheaper than the fabric to make a dress would have been, and I can still sew things on it, embroider the hell out of it, make sashes, little jackets/shrugs, and other dress accessories.
I'm pretty pleased with it, the more dresses that I tried on, the sooner and sooner I realized that September was coming up, and the more I realized how much other stuff I have to get done before then that isn't sewing a wedding dress from scratch.

Going dress shopping with my mom was a whole lot of fun, I really enjoyed it. We had a wonderful time.
It's wild to see all the different dress shops and the different ways they are run. Weddings are an industry, and it's impressive how much money people make off it it.

I also got some veils and they are VERY exciting. They make me feel all fancy.

expo

Went to a wedding expo, it was fairly entertaining. Free wine and tasty snacks. I talked to some really nice flower people and came home with a bunch of roses. There was a wedding dress fashion show that was rather disappointing, and I entered into all sorts of raffles (I don't really remember what all, since this was after many glasses of wine) there were a LOT of people there, it was a little overwhelming.

Darcy's mom sent me pictures of the fairfax uu church sanctuary, and it's beautiful. His parents being members gets us a hell of a discount too, which is nice. Renting a place to throw a wedding is not cheap. According to Darcy's mom booze shouldn't be an issue with the church, so as soon as we get official word back from then there might be some booking action.

Lindsay is moving to MD for a few months, which is wildly exciting and makes me very happy. I can make her deal with wedding stuff with me, it'll be great.

8ish Months!

We settled on Labor day weekend for our wedding, and we're hopefully be getting married in Fairfax VA at Darcy's old UU church. I'm very excited. I made a wedding webstie too http://weddings.theknot.com/pwp/pwp2/view/MemberPage.aspx?coupleId=7521981461886210
it's kind of entertaining.

I'm thinking a peacock/prussian blue, ivory, and brown for wedding colors. And possibly a victorian theme to it. I like art nouveau, steampunk, and old carnaval stuff.

Meghan is also engaged, which is exciting, I feel like I can talk weddings with her without her getting as sick of it as normal people.

We're going to the chaple and we're gonna get married

Darcy proposed. We're getting married. I am prepared to be totally shameless in this blog about posting girly excited fantasy wedding ideas and such. Lets start with rings.

We got a solitaire for the stone and so I would have something to wear during the process of looking at all of the rings in Annapolis and surrounding area. This would have been easier if Darcy had just picked one, but it's kind of nice to get the pick a piece of jewelry that I'll wear for the rest of my life.
I like this one http://design.jared-diamonds.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-5974.asp in platinum a whole lot, it is one of the top contenders. The other one I cant find online. Drat. It has surprised diamonds on the sides, which I am a fan of.

We're thinking late August or early September for a wedding, depending on what the weather in Europe around then will be for honeymoon type adventures.

I don't want a ridiculous wedding, our main goal really is just to have a wonderful party with all the people that we love. I want to make my dress (that could become a little ridiculous) and to have an open bar and dancing.

I am Very Excited.
